END OF THE PROJECT - October 2008
Welcome to 'Internet-radio as learning tool'
The project organisation had since October 2006 worked
cross-nationally towards the final aim:
The development of a teaching module
and a starter-kit for vocational
institutions, who wish to work with
audio technologies in teaching and
learning processes.
The 'starter-kit',
a webtool for education planners and
VET teachers has been published in
May 2008 and is available here as
well as a cd-rom.
The starter-kit offers
technical recommendations,
pedagogical advice,
radio-journalistic principles as
well as teaching cases and sound
samples made by students.
Check out the
starter-kit here!
The evaluation report is
available from Oct. 2008, and you
can find the
final report from November 2008. Check the
description of the
project's concept for further
information.
During 2007, the project partners
had trial runs of the teaching
module in vocational
institutions in their countries.
Radio stations supported with professional expertise, and several
consultancy organizations were involved
in teacher training, evaluation
methods and
perspectives on the European point
of view.
The trial runs
worked that well that several
follow-ups were initiated:
March 2008:
New subproject
"Tear down the sound
wall"
This subproject
had its kick-off in November
2007 and is a co-production between Danish vocational
colleges, Danish youth-schools
and a Turkish university,
DEL - the Danish Institute for
Educational Training of
Vocational Teachers and
the Development Centre for
Danish Youth Schools.
Audio-artists
and professional event-makers were involved in the project and integrated into teaching. The
students worked on
audio-productions across the school
types and across national borders.
They presented their work at a
final learning event in May 2008. Check information
in English (pdf for download)
or
in Danish, as well as a
summarizing catalogue with
experience and advices from the
project.
Download free programme for podcasts
The Turkish
Mugla University has published
an easy little programme for writing
RSS feeds, which you need when
wanting to distribute your audio
files as podcasts. Check the
starter-kit for free download!
eLearning prize for the project!
'Internetradio as learning tool' won the
golden prize
2007, chosen from 573
European e-learning projects.
"European Schoolnet, with the
support of 28 European Ministries of
Education, is organising for the 7th
consecutive year the prestigious
eLearning Awards. The theme this
year is ‘Future School Now’ and we
invite entries from primary and
secondary schools in Europe that
exemplify best practice in
harnessing technology to create
schools fit for 21st century
learners."
The
gold prize was given for
innovation and co-operation: "Internet radio is not
commonly addressed as a pedagogical
tool so this site is very
innovative. It could perhaps even
generate career options in media
management at an early age. It is
nice to see Turkey included in the
European context."
